Zund UK, a leader in digital cutting, wanted more than a basic CAT B fit-out renovation for their workplace at Acuta House in Letchworth Garden City. They wanted a space that reflected their cutting-edge technology and innovative spirit. That’s where we came in. Partnering with Oaktree Interiors, we illuminated a space that’s both functional and stunning, with custom acoustic lighting solutions from our Tranquila range that are creating a loud statement.

Project Requirements

This was a comprehensive CAT B fit-out focused on a single, expansive floor. We aimed to create a visually continuous, acoustically sound environment in the cutting machine demo room and an inviting, well-lit reception area. The project demanded precision and creativity, particularly in the demonstration room where there were many exposed beams and columns to consider within the lighting design to create a pattern that flowed seamlessly throughout the space, illuminating all the task areas while still giving the WOW factor.

Collaborating with Oaktree Interiors and Zund, we designed an acoustic lighting scheme that brought the renovated space to life on time ready for their grand opening and press evening.

Our approach was hands-on, involving frequent site visits and collaborative design sessions to ensure the lighting scheme and Casambi lighting commissioning met our high standards.

Ensuring the demo room was well-lit was crucial. Our goal was to achieve lux levels between 600 and 800, providing safe and effective lighting. The high lumen output of our lighting solutions made the space both functional, harmonious and visually captivating.

The Stars of the show

Soreno This contemporary LED hexagon light brought geometric style to the space, but with its acoustic inlay shouts contemporary design, perfect for an industrial space. Calado This was a custom solution created for Zund, utilising our hero linear lighting product M-Line. We created a bespoke solution, fabricating a rectangular light incorporating an acoustic panel to fit the centre for maximum sound absorption. This highlights our capability to custom-make modular lighting solutions that can fit any projects needs. Casambi Lighting Controls and Commissioning For ultimate flexibility and control, we integrated Casambi lighting controls. This system allowed Zund to effortlessly adjust lighting settings, adapting the space from a work area to an experimental or social environment with ease by creating scene settings or colour changing.

Throughout the project, we maintained close communication with Oaktree Electrical, the contractor chosen by Oaktree Interiors. We conducted site visits, provided detailed drawings, and ensured that all installation steps were understood and executed correctly. Post-completion, we continued our support, addressing minor snagging issues promptly and ensuring the Casambi lighting system operated flawlessly.
