Mount Lighting has designed the Microdetect as a newer and more advanced response to traditional PIR and security lights to improve safety in low-security areas. The Microdetect works by emitting high-frequency electromagnetic waves and then receiving their echo back.
Occupancy sensors, a small lighting devices that detect a person’s presence, are found everywhere. This lighting type is one of the most popular on the market, largely because they’re an effective device for reducing cost and energy use.
The sensor can detect the change in echo from even the slightest movement within its detection zone and will command a microprocessor to switch the light on.
There are two sensor options available. The MV-01 detector has been designed to be built into luminaires to provide on/off switching control. The MV-01-IP microwave detector is a standalone version of the MV-01 and is used for applications where a sealed detector is required. It is supplied within a circular housing which is suitable for direct mounting to a solid surface and has BESA box fixings for conduit applications.
Both sensors have a ceiling-mounted detection field of 4m radius at a 5m mounting height and a 30–150º detection angle.
