What does a future-ready classroom look like? At Notre Dame School in Surrey, the answer lies in spaces designed to inspire creativity and innovation. This landmark project demonstrates how bespoke LED lighting solutions and advanced commercial lighting design can redefine education environments.
By combining architectural lighting solutions with both suspended linear LED lighting and striking curved LED lighting systems, we created a scheme that reflects the school’s ambition to provide flexible, high-performance STEM spaces.
The new two-storey Innovation Centre goes far beyond traditional classrooms. With podcast booths, robotics labs, CAD suites, and dedicated STEM zones, it demanded a lighting scheme that could switch seamlessly from focused teaching to dynamic showcase events.
Appointed by T&K Electricals and working alongside TaskSpace (academic interior specialists) and CBG Consultants (electrical engineers), our role was to deliver lighting that would perform, impress, and inspire.
The challenge was clear: design a single luminaire capable of both general illumination and RGBW LED lighting effects for dynamic presentations. This required innovation, prototyping, and rigorous testing to achieve the perfect balance of function and spectacle.

Our bespoke colour-changing LED board, combined with Floe-Line curved profiles, echoed the architecture while adding drama. M-Line suspended luminaires provided soft, consistent illumination, while Force downlights highlighted key learning areas.
The entire scheme runs on DALI lighting control systems, giving staff the ability to adapt light levels, colours, and moods with ease. From focused STEM lessons to immersive events, the adaptability ensures the lighting is as versatile as the students themselves.
