Browne Jacobson, a law firm that places emphasis on making a positive difference across business and society, has recently doubled its presence in Manchester. The law firm has moved into the entire 15th floor of No.1 Spinningfields, going from 6,700sq ft to 11,342sq of office space.
Located in the heart of Manchester’s business district, Spinningfields is rated BREEAM Excellent, so when Browne Jacobson needed a lighting solution for their new office space, it was important that they choose a lighting manufacturer that would align with its environmental, social and economic sustainability goals.
The CAT A fit-out comes at a time when Browne Jacobson announced a record-breaking financial year, with the decision to expand driven by client demand across the firm’s core sectors: corporates, health and life sciences, government, education and financial services and insurance.
Office Innovations, an office design and fit-out company, were tasked with bringing Browne Jacobson’s new office to life. Having successfully worked with Mount Lighting before, we were asked to create an office lighting scheme that would meet all of the client’s objectives.
The office space needed to reflect the law firm’s high operational standards and create a visually and acoustically productive environment for staff. The lighting plays a key role in this, providing the right LUX levels to support employee wellbeing while integrating smoothly with the acoustic solutions to help manage noise pollution.
Curved linear LED lighting designed to break the conventions of linear lighting and take lighting design to another dimension. For this project, it was installed in the tea area and network station, incorporating an acoustic grid at the centre of each fixture to combine striking lighting with noise management.
The Corona is ideal for lighting large open spaces. It is a versatile surface-mounted or suspended solution with widespread illumination and impressive coverage. The suspended version was installed in the meeting room with circular acoustic boards sat above, provided by AllSfär, managed by Mount Lighting.
For lower ceilings where space is limited, recessed linear lighting creates the impression of a wider area while leaving more room for decorative features. It was installed in the office’s locker area and print room, delivering bright even lighting for functional spaces.
Mount Lighting’s team provided guidance on the most appropriate products for the space, visiting the office and consulting with Office Innovations to advise on lighting layouts and product selection. The result is a fully coordinated design that meets both visual and operational standards while enhancing the user experience across the floor.
The Browne Jacobson project demonstrates how modular, bespoke lighting solutions can support ambitious office expansions. By combining Floe-Line and M-Line systems with acoustic integration, Mount Lighting helped create an environment that is visually appealing, functional, and adaptable for future needs – all while supporting the firm’s sustainability ambitions.
