An asset management firm on Great Portland Street required recessed lighting to suit the offices’ shallow ceilings. Mount Lighting’s M-Line bespoke LED recessed lighting was chosen as the ideal luminaries for the shallow ceilings, as their flush profile helps overcome a lack of space and height. This led to us being commissioned by the London-based commercial interior design company Arke Creative to deliver the lighting package for this fit-out project. To complete the lighting design, we complemented the recessed lights with M-Line suspended linear lighting systems on short suspensions and our architectural recessed Laguna LED downlights to enhance the client’s offices, boardrooms, and kitchen/breakout area.
The brief for this project seemed straightforward: supply LED lighting for a single-floor CAT-B fit-out. However, the shallow-depth ceilings presented a significant challenge in terms of the kinds of fixtures we could use. Luckily, our team likes a good challenge, and we were quickly able to propose a solution.
Low ceilings can make a space feel dark and cramped and don’t allow much room for decoration, especially pendant lighting. The recessed M-Line system from Mount Lighting was the perfect solution and opened up the interior, making it appear more bright and spacious. More dimensions were added with the inclusion of M-Line suspended systems, on a short suspension wire that utilises downlighting elements and introduce height levels into a room by making a simple, yet effective statement around the boardroom table. M-Line provides sleek, clean runs of light and high lumen output, fully illuminating offices and commercial spaces. The diffusers supplied for this project were continuous, which meant they didn’t utilise joiners, and the trajectory of the light was uninterrupted with zero light spill.
For the kitchen and break out area, we supplied Laguna downlights – slimline IP54 commercial LED downlights that fit with the low ceiling voids, creating a warm colour contrast to the main offices.

We selected lighting products from our range to suit the end user’s requirements and supplied the client with specialist lighting solutions on time and to CIBSE standards. Simple but refined, the solutions we delivered make the offices look and feel more spacious. Everyone involved with the project was impressed with the end result, and we feel proud knowing the commercial LED lighting solutions we provided will make a real difference to illumination standards for the end user.
